Atheist Guide to 2012

I think Obama probably believes in God and loosely calls himself a Christian but isn't at all serious about it...Unlike the Bachmanns and Perrys who think God speaks to them or wears magic underwear...So as an Atheist, Obama is the clear choice. As any free thinking, educated, liberal person who isn't a billionaire or a military contractor or oil company...Obama would still be the obvious choice between the jokers on the other side.

Gingrich, I mean Cain, Should Step Aside

"This is not an accusation of harassment in the workplace—this is not an accusation of an assault—which are subject matters of legitimate inquiry to a political candidate. Rather, this appears to be an accusation of private, alleged consensual conduct between adults—a subject matter which is not a proper subject of inquiry by the media or the public. No individual, whether a private citizen, a candidate for public office or a public official, should be questioned about his or her private sexual life." - Lin Wood, Herman Cain's Attorney...You know, the guy who told women they should "think twice" before going public with their allegations of sexual misconduct from Cain.

I like how when it's Clinton or Spitzer who is cheating it's everyone's business but when Republicans do it...

The question is, if Cain has to step aside, does that mean Gingrich does as well since he has cheated on his wives with multiple women?

Personhood

If you think this is a person, you are an idiot.

See! I told you there was no difference

Can anyone tell me how one is any different than the other? One is a spoof and is about as coherent as the one that is not.

Which Side of the Fence

Ha! So I don't know if anyone has seen that chain email going around about how practical and passive Republicans and how Democrats are somehow the ones trying to cock block every one but I did my own version of that chain letter.

Which side of the fence?

If you ever wondered which side of the fence you sit on, this is a great test!

If a Democrat doesn't like abortion, or gay weddings he doesn’t have one.

If a Republican doesn't like abortions or gay weddings, he wants them all outlawed.

If a Republican is a vegetarian, he is called a homo by his peers.

If a Democrat is a vegetarian, he wants his food labels to detail what has been processed with animal products

If a Republican is homosexual, he quietly leads his life...In the Senate or in a Mega Church where he tells other homosexuals that they are going to burn in hell and are the reason Hurricanes happen

If a Democrat is homosexual, he demands the law to protect him from bullies and murderers because he is gay.

If a Republican is down-and-out, he blames it on the liberal media and Mexicans

A Democrat wonders how anyone can still believe in trickle down economics and what happened to all the well paying union jobs.

If a Democrat doesn't like a TV show about a Glee club that has gay characters, he switches channels.

Republicans demand that those shows be shut down.

If a Republican is a believer, he want's to add the word "God" to the currency, Pledge of Allegiance, License Plates and Federal Courthouses and have you believe that the separation of Church and State is a myth.

If A Democrat is a believer, he prays in the privacy of his home or at a church like Jesus intended and doesn't hold up school classes or football games so everyone else has to hear him pray.

If a Republican decides he needs health care, it's because he drives his truck to the McDonalds where he stuffs his fat face every day giving him diabetes which raises the cost of health care for the rest of us all the while bitching about "personal responsibility"

A Democrat tries to eliminate the middle men insurance companies that will make health care affordable

If a Democrat reads this, he'll forward it so his friends can have a good laugh.

A Republican will delete it because he's "offended".

Ok, so here was the original:

Which side of the fence?
If you ever wondered which side of the fence you sit on, this is a great test!

If a Republican doesn't like guns, he doesn’t buy one.

If a Democrat doesn't like guns, he wants all guns outlawed.

If a Republican is a vegetarian, he doesn’t eat meat.

If a Democrat is a vegetarian, he wants all meat products banned for everyone.

If a Republican is homosexual, he quietly leads his life.

If a Democrat is homosexual, he demands legislated respect.

If a Republican is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation.

A Democrat wonders who is going to take care of him.

If a Republican doesn't like a talk show host, he switches channels.

Democrats demand that those they don't like be shut down.

If a Republican is a non-believer, he doesn't go to church.

A Democrat non-believer wants any mention of God and religion silenced.

If a Republican decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping for it, or may choose a job that provides it..
A Democrat demands that the rest of us pay for his.

If a Republican reads this, he'll forward it so his friends can have a good laugh.
A Democrat will delete it because he's "offended".

Well, I forwarded it.

Why They Are Protesting

I hear a lot of people asking exactly what it is that the occupy Wall Street people are protesting...You have everything from union members, hippies, anarchists and accountants. While there may not be one, unified message coming out of the mouths of everyone this is basically what it comes down to.

I know I have talked about many of these issues before but this is what they are protesting:

In the 1970s, the average CEO made 30 times what an hourly worker made. Today, a CEO makes 300 times what an hourly worker makes.

From 1960 to 1969 the bottom 90% of income earners saw 65% of all wage increases while the top 10% got 12% of the income increases but from 2002-2007 the bottom 90% got 12% of the increase in income while the top 10% got 65% of those increases.

In the 1950's, 35% of the American labor force belonged to a union, it is now at 11% and 6.9% in the private sector.

In 1977 the income share of the top 1% was at about 10% of all wage earners, today it's 24%, back to where it was just before the stock market crash of 1929 and the Great Depression.

In 1965, manufacturing accounted for 53% of the economy, by 1988 it only accounted for 39%, and in 2004, it accounted for just 9%.

A study by the universities of Cornell and Massachusetts-Amherst found that India alone may be responsible for up to 700,000 outsourced jobs from America as of 2005

In 2004, average employee compensation in the U.S. fell for the first time in 14 years

Between 1979 and 1999(at the beginning of the outsourcing trend) the Bureau of Labor Statistics found that 31 percent of workers displaced by trade, mostly in the manufacturing industries, were not fully re-employed. Only 36 percent of workers soon found jobs that matched or increased their wages

Where as the average salary in manufacturing was $51,000, the average wage in the service industry(medical, hospitality, construction) is now $29,000

Forrester Research conducted a study that found 12,000 to 15,000 service jobs are outsourced from the US per month.

From 1983-1998 the change in net worth for the bottom 40% was -76% but the change for the top 1% was +42% and those numbers are probably far more drastic today.

In the same time period, the change in income from the bottom 20% was -5% while the top 5% saw a 64% increase

Nearly 80% of all economic gains made in the past thirty years have gone to the richest 1%

The capital gains taxes now are 1/3 of what they were under Reagan and the top income tax rate is 50% lower than what it was in 1970

80% of American families own less that $250,000 of wealth, the bottom 20% have nearly 0 wealth

The richest 10% of families own 85% of all outstanding stock and 90% of all business assets.

6 out of the 10 richest people in America never worked a day for their wealth! It was all inheritance which is apparently now a sin to tax that income.

In 2007 Rick Wagoner, CEO of GM, announced the closing of 4 plants producing SUVs and trucks, posted a 39 billion dollar loss and increased his pay by 64% to 15.7 million

The top 1% receive 21.8 % of all income and own about 39% of all wealth in the U.S

The top 10% receive 48.5 % of all reported income ('05), own 71 % of all wealth

The top 300,000 income earners in America received more income than the bottom 150,000,000 Americans.

All the other stuff from education costs and health care would be irrelevant if not for these facts.

THIS IS CLASS WARFARE! The class war is real and it was declared on the poor and middle class in the 1980's by Ronald Reagan. Restoring top tax rates (up only 3%) back to where they were 12 years ago is NOT class warfare...If anyone tries to tell you it is, stick their face in a pile of white dog shit!

Rick Perry Is Gay

Why not? If Obama is a socialist Muslim...

I don't see how this is any different than what he usually says but...

Number of American's Who Don't Pay Taxes, Blah, Blah

Find any guy with a misspelled protest sign, a gun around his waist, a teabagger hat and either a staring eagle or Don't Tread on Me shirt and he will probably tell you that the number of people who don't pay income taxes has "doubled" since 1970 or whenever. Well, for one, it hasn't actually doubled but at it's lowest point to it's highest point it is close. And of course, what they won't tell you is that of the 235,413 taxpayers earning $1 million or more in 2009, 1,470 of them were part of that number that paid 0 taxes! But that's ok because they are rich and the government should only take money from people who can't afford it.

What they think is that taxes on the rich (and even on themselves) have gone up and up since the 1970's (but they haven't) and the people on welfare/not working has just gone off the charts and there is some sort of wealth and income redistribution network of Black Shirts who beat rich people for their hard earned money that they all worked so hard for and hand it over to people who watch Jerry Springer all day and feed their kids Flamin' Hot Cheetos they bought with their food stamps. Some more informed people will blame it on child tax credits and even mortgage deductions and just say that a family with a house and kids who earn $50,000 per year should still pay federal income taxes but most will blame it on the scenario I described above and scream about how unfair the system was to the "job creators(wink, wink)"and those with personal responsibility(to not be born poor and black). Yes, you have to love the irony of the "pull yourself up from your bootstrap" Republicans crying about how something isn't fair...But that is beside the point. They also complain that it isn't fair that 1% of the population pays 39% of all taxes and that over 40% of the population has little to NO tax liability(though they apparently think it's completely fair for corporations to not pay taxes).

Well, here is the reality of all that: Yes, someone making $50,000 per year with a kid and mortgage gets a tax write off on both the kids and the mortgage. But what they don't tell you is that a billionaire with a Summer home, Ski Chalet and year round home gets 3 mortgage deductions...Up to $1 million per home. And a couple earning up to $110,000 per year still gets a child tax credit as well. But with the mortgage deductions, the higher your tax bracket, the more of a credit you get and of course you get a bigger deduction in taxes on your $1 million dollar home, than a guy does on his $200,000 home...The the richer you are and the more homes you have, the more you benefit from this tax credit. But that isn't really why fewer numbers of people are paying a higher percentage of our taxes. That was just to show you that rich people get some of the same deductions as everyone else, it's just that they make so much more, that more of their income is taxable...And I don't know about you but I think that would be a good problem to have. I would gladly keep 85% of $4 million dollars per year (cause the rich really only pay an effective tax rate between 10.5-16%) than 100% of $50,000. So anyway, this is one of the reasons the tax liability for many people have decreased...These tax credits and write offs...But the rich get them too so fair is fair...And the richer you are and more houses you have the more you benefit from these credits and then these properties can generate even more income for you making you that much richer....And what happens when you make more money? You pay more in taxes. Duh!

And that's my next point. One of the main reason the richest 1% of this country has been paying a larger share of the tax bill is just that, they are making more income! The amount of people paying or not paying taxes is completely irrelevant. When they say over 40% of the people pay no taxes that sounds staggering but wouldn't it be more staggering if I said 99% of the population paid only 1% of all taxes and the richest 1% paid 99% of all taxes!! That sounds like a socialist utopia right?? Well, actually, it would be a capitalist utopia because what that would tell me is that 1% of the population earned 99% of all income...And you thought it wasn't fair when they had to pay 99% all those taxes!!! You can't get water from a stone! 80% of American families own less than $250,000 of wealth, the bottom 20% have nearly 0 wealth. However, the top 10% receive 48.5 % of all reported income ('05) and own 71 % of all wealth.

Well that is what is happening in our country. Beginning in the late 70s and early 80s era of Reaganomic union busting, the income for the wealthiest American's in the country started to increase dramatically...The income for the middle class stayed relatively stagnant even though they got more educated, became more productive and worked longer hours and went further in debt...To rich bankers. So again, do you want to talk about fair?? But that is why the rich continue to pay a larger percentage of taxes; because they pay themselves more and the rest of us less.

Here are the numbers to support the fact that the reason the rich are picking up a larger share of the taxes paid simply because they are paying themselves so much more and poor people whose jobs got outsourced by the rich guy, so he could get richer, are no longer earning enough to owe income taxes.

4.2 million fewer taxpayers reported wages in 2009 than in 2007; the jobs just aren't there anymore and the ones that are, are at retail stores selling the products made in China the employee used to make himself and thus this job pays far less and typically comes with fewer benefits.

In the same time period, the change in income from the bottom 20% was -5% while the top 5% saw a 64% increase

Nearly 80% of all economic gains made in the past thirty years have gone to the richest 1%

The capital gains taxes now are 1/3 of what they were under Reagan and the top income tax rate is 50% lower than what it was in 1970. So the tax rate on the rich has certainly not increased.

What this data shows is:

A. The rich are paying themselves more and paying their employees less and therefore the taxable income base has shifted towards the ones making the most money.
B. The rich are exporting once well paying jobs and the savings is going into their pockets and not necessarily being passed on to the consumer (are your Levi jeans and tennis shoes any cheaper now than when they were made in the US?)
C. The tax rates on the rich have not gone up and the American worker didn't just decide to not work and stay at home and watch The View, they simply have no job to go to.

The bottom line is that the number of people paying or not paying taxes is completely irrelevant. If the rich want to pay a smaller percentage of America's tax liability, they need can merely stop earning so much income that was once paid to their employees who used to be part of the tax base but since they now no longer can afford to live off their incomes,or their jobs outsourced all together, they have thus been removed from the tax base.

Or you could use the restaurant analogy: Three guys go to a restaurant, one got valet parking, orders a surf and turf, a $100 bottle of wine a desert and brandy...The other two took the bus, ordered a burrito and PBR, the check comes, it's $200....How should this check be split?

The people complaining about such a small percentage of people picking up 40% of the tax burden would tell you that it isn't fair that a guy who only only represented 1/3 of the group should have to pay for 75% of the meal....A Democrat would tell you the guy who got the most should have to pay the most and a Republican would say that everyone should pay 1/3 of the bill.

It's pretty simple when you think about it.

So the next time some Koch sucker or Teabagger tells you the tax code "isn't fair", give him a good cock punching and tell him that it's only because the incomes in this country aren't "fair".

Rick Perry and His Lies About Climate Change

Rick Perry:
"...For example, they have seen the headlines in the past year about doctored data related to global warming. They know we have been experiencing a cooling trend, that the complexities of the global atmosphere have often eluded the most sophisticated scientists, and that draconian policies with dire economic effects based on so-called science may not stand the test of time. Quite frankly, when science gets hijacked by the political Left, we should all be concerned. . . .

And it’s all one contrived phony mess that is falling apart under its own weight. Al Gore is a prophet all right, a false prophet of a secular carbon cult, and now even moderate Democrats aren’t buying it."

Dr. Andrew Dessler, a professor of atmospheric sciences at Texas A&M University:

"There are dozens of credible atmospheric scientists in Texas at institutions like Rice, UT, and Texas A&M, and I can confidently say that none agree with Gov. Perry’s views on the science of climate change. This is a particularly unfortunate situation given the hellish drought that Texas is now experiencing, and which climate change is almost certainly making worse."

The others who disagree with Perry and let's consider their expertise and education vs. his:

Atheists: Hated more than gay Mexican, Jews.

It is no coincidence that the Myth Busters guys are atheists...After all, they bust myths for a living...Why not start with the biggest myth of them all?

And how can the most mistrusted group be the only one that actually wants to see proof of something before they believe and follow it?? Shouldn't atheists be the ones mistrusting religious people?? I mean, they are the ones who will believe anything written in a religious book and willing to fly planes into buildings and shoot up Summer camps because they think that's what an invisible man in the sky wants them to do.

It's just a shame that psychology doesn't predate religion...The first religious people who though magic men in the sky were talking to them would have been able to receive the help they needed and we could have nipped this shit in the bud.

PS: Ha! I just realized I actually know a gay, Mexican, Jew and he's probably an atheist...Though I suppose I should ask.

Debt Ceiling Grandstanding

The truth is, the Republican campaign donors are rich...As are most Republican Congressmen. The US defaulting will not stop the flood of contributions from oil companies or the Koch brothers. Their lives will not be affected by this; Yours will. The Republicans maxed out Daddy's credit card and now refuse to even pay the interest on their debt and instead, make it out to be Obama's fault. They are the ones who are not compromising. This debt limit increase is not so "Obama can spend more" or "give handouts to fat black women in the projects who had too many kids they couldn't afford". The debt limit needs to be increased to pay the interest on Bush's debt created by his $2.2 trillion dollar tax cuts and his 2 wars and shitty economy.

The Republican's just had a steak and lobster dinner and walked out without paying the bill. Period, end of story.

Flooding, Failed Infrastructure + Joblessness

Proof that we don't need the big, evil, Socialist government raising taxes on millionaires to invest in infrastructure jobs. Sounds like a no brainer to me...Spend millions on evacuation and clean up whilst shutting down all economic activity in these areas, lose the power generated from these nuclear plants or hire a bunch of people that will stimulate the economy and save property, lives, to build levees and rebuild dams, rivers, etc. Which would you rather do? They both cost money but one helps the economy and people, the other doesn't. One could be paid for by taxing rich people.

And it's also proof that the climate isn't changing at all...This is completely normal...For Noah.

What He Said

my-take-bible-condemns-a-lot-so-why-focus-on-homosexuality

What he says is what I have been saying since forever ago. Jesus never addresses homosexuality and when it is condemned in the Old Testament, it's on the same page where it also condemns eating shellfish and having sex with your wife on her period. And then of course the only place it is addressed in the New Testament, by Paul, not Jesus, it only condemns male homosexuality and then in the same breath condemns short hair on Women and long hair on Men. And as he states, in many places in the Bible divorce is condemned by several people including Jesus yet the Bible belt, which is the most homophobic part of the country, leads the nation in divorce rates. So, there is a lot of hypocrisy out there.

“Barack Obama has failed America"

“Barack Obama has failed America”

That's what Mitt Romney said in a recent debate. He said so referring mainly to the economy because you know, the two wars Bush started which drive up oil prices and the uprising in the Middle East also, driving up oil prices, is all Barack Obama's fault. Unemployment was up again slightly for the month and so after 2 1/2 years in office, apparently everything that is wrong with America is the result of Obama's actions.

Here is why I can't wait for one of those Youtube debates again or one where citizens get to make of the questions because what I would ask Romney and each of the other candidates would be what specific policy or piece of legislation has Obama signed resulted in a failure that has ruined America...The only sound you will hear will be crickets.

Again, the debt, deficit, wars, were all inherited by Obama as was a much worse economy than what we have today. I certainly don't want to go back to Oct 08-Jan 09 which was a result of 8 years of a Republican President and years of Republican Presidents and Republican Congresses (yes I realize Clinton signed a lot of those bills) deregulating the financial and housing markets and encouraging jobs to be sent over seas while irresponsibly lowering taxes and lowering them on the rich more than anyone else which has had the exact opposite affect they said it would have. As it turns out tax cuts don't pay for themselves and when you cut taxes on rich people, they don't go out on a hiring spree, they get greedier and send your jobs to China and then have more money to hire fancy accountants to find more tax loopholes.

So Republicans, what specific policies has Obama instituted and what has been their dire and drastic effects that have failed America?

Here is the way I see it, at the end of 2000 before Bush took office the Dow Jones Industrial Average was at 10,787. At the end of his term at the end of 2008, it was down to 8776. Today it is around 12000.

Housing starts in December of 2008 were at 549,000, in May they were at 612,000. Not great, but better than where Bush and the Republicans got us.

These numbers don't tell the entire story but I feel if McCain and Ms. Dumb Dumb and the Republicans were still in charge, continuing their policies of letting the banks and auto companies fall whilst lowering taxes on rich people and expanding the debt and starting more wars, we would be in the midst of a depression.

Historical ignorance isn't a problem if you just rewrite history

This is not the first time you have heard about this I am sure but Palin fans are taking a page from the Texas School board to literally rewrite history to fit their conservative and or ignorant (often synonymous) view of history.

Romney Lies

Well, Joseph Smith wouldn't be too proud of Mitt Romney right now for lying...I though lies made the baby Jesus cry??

Yes Romney, in his first campaign speech, said the economy was worse now that when Obama took office...Which everyone, even Sarah Palin knows, isn't even remotely true. The fact is, that after 8 years of a Republican President, mostly under a Republican controlled Congress, our economy hadn't been worse in over 75 years. Obama is the one who took us out of that and we are now on the road to recovery. The economy is ADDING jobs (slowly) not losing them like in 08.

The other lie he said was this, "A few months into office, he (Obama) traveled around the globe to apologize for America." Though we probably should apologize to many peoples of the Earth, especially Iraq, this did not happen. Obama did talk about how he wasn't going to be like his predecessor who invaded countries for no cause, gave up on Bin Laden, crashed the economy and tortured people. Bush is the one who should be apologizing, not Obama.

He also said foreclosures are at a record level which is false. As is Romney's lie that Obama has raised taxes on entrepreneurs and businesses which can't even be denied even in a Republican fantasy land...He didn't even get to raise taxes on the rich like he wanted to...I wish I could say that he did but that has not happened.

These are the first words out of his mouth from his new campaign and it's pretty much all bullshit. Is this someone you can trust?

Just tell the truth! What are you afraid of Romney?

Mitch Daniels, Governor of Indiana and once Presidential hopeful has just announced that he will not be running for President. He says that he has talked it over with his family and they don't want him to run....Which in Republican language is code for someone has photos of me smoking cock.

Is this his families first day on the planet?? He has been rumored as a Presidential hopeful for almost 2 years now. Don't you think maybe the, "Hey Dad, I heard in the news that you might run for President" conversation would have come up before now? Clearly something else is at play here. Let's vote on the most likely scenario.

He is a Republican so him wanting to stay out of the lime light means one or several of the following:

A. His gay lover is blackmailing him in exchange for meth and if he runs his cover is blown
B. He has a secret baby with a minority of some sort and or an immigrant who may or may not be legal
C. His call girl and or favorite stripper plans on coming forward, writing a book and becoming a reality star if he decides to run for President
D. Is afraid all his Eyes Wide Shut orgies with Dan Burton (Indiana 5th district) will be exposed
E. Just isn't crazy enough to get the End of the World Jesus voters and could never compete on that level with the Bachmann's and Palin's of the world and therefore wouldn't be able to secure all the Pro-Life, Gun and Oil money

My vote is for A.

Oh and if you think Common visiting the Whitehouse was a bad thing, you are an idiot. Here is a follow up of my last post:
The Daily Show

And while we are off topic, Netanyahu is an idiot...He recently claimed that Israel's 1967 border was indefensible and therefore Israel would never relinquish control over some of those areas...The problem with that statement is that they clearly proved in the 1967 war that those borders are indeed defensible or they wouldn't have been able to conquer the lands beyond those borders...IN 6 DAYS mind you, and the Jewish state would not exist...What a moron...And a Zionist thug. He's is just as responsible for derailing the peace process as Hamas, neither feels the other has the right to exist...And also, the shit he says about Jewish ancestral homelands is bullshit too. Prior to the 20th century with the exception of small sections of Jerusalem and other isolated areas, Jews hadn't lived in Palestine since about the 2nd Century AD. In 1850 for instance, Jews made up about 4% of the population of Palestine. How much ancestral homeland could they possible have when there hasn't been a significant population there (aside from the last 100 years) in the last 1800 years?

John Stewart 1, Bill O'Reilly 0

Brilliant! Is O'Reilly just grasping at straws here?

And the question is, what is the difference between the people John Stewart mentioned and Common?? Hmm, one of these doesn't look like the other...The same with our President. Hence, phony outrage.

Big Surprise, Alaskan's Don't Want Oil Subsidies Cut and Neither do Republicans

Alaska Sen. Begich stands firm on oil industry subsidies

Begich, Murkowski oppose linking deficit, oil 'subsidies'

House GOP Blocks Vote On Oil Subsidies

"But both she and Begich say that the oil and gas industry has been singled out"
. Murkowski Spokesman Robert Dillon said: "But to single out a particular industry and make it the boogeyman is counter-productive."

Now you know how Planned Parenthood and NPR feels. It doesn't seem like they like it when the tables are turned...Now you know who is really for reducing the deficit and hand-outs from the federal government and who just has a political agenda...If you think Republican's are serious about reducing government expenditures, YOU ARE AN IDIOT!

NPR receives about 1 million per year in direct federal funding and Planned Parenthood receives about $360 million per year VS. the $2 Billion big oil receives in federal subsidies and tax breaks.

Yes, I realize Begich is a Democrat.

Big lesson here: Republican's are supposed to be the party of fiscal responsibility and strong on defense yet they are the ones responsible for most of our deficit and mainly because they are weak/wrong/incompetent on defense...My question to Republicans come 2012 is, why exactly are you voting for them when it's obvious they are really bad at the two things they are supposed to be good at?? I mean, I am sure they still love Jesus and guns but other than that...Contrary to popular belief, you can't really run a country on Jesus and guns...Especially since Jesus doesn't exist.

Kids (most) Get It, Why Can't Adults?

This is a pretty good video by Nickelodeon. It's amazing how many kids understand what few adults can...Of course, there is also the kids who you can tell their parents are influencing them to pretend that America is a "Christian nation" but still...And these kids are too young to know that the "God" part of the pledge of allegiance and "God"; being printed on our currency is a relatively new thing that was added to our Pledge and currency during the 50's and technically, still unconstitutional. And if majority rules, why is it illegal to refuse service to black people in the south? At one point, the majority supported segregation but that clearly didn't make it right or constitutional.

And you have to feel sorry for the free thinkers in places like rural Virgina and Alabama....Or the Muslims in Tennessee and of course the irony of the violence against that Tennessee mosque, which the Christians there are calling violent.

And then of course there is the irony of all the Christians and how big of a boner they get for the 10 Commandments when they clearly use/worship a cross when the the 2nd Commandment clearly tells them not to use such images, they worship not only God but Jesus and the Holy Ghost (and even Mary) when the 1st Commandment clearly states they are only to worship God and then they go to church on Sundays which goes against what the 4th Commandment instructs them to do when it says they need to worship on the 7th day of the week, not the first. And then of course there is the fact that only 2 of the commandments are something in our common law you can go to jail for breaking and those actually originated not from Moses, but from Hammurabi of Babylon 300 years before the 10 Commandments were even written.

If you think the US is a Christian nation, you are an idiot.

Treaty of Tripoli Article 11:

"As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion; as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquillity, of Musselmen; and as the said States never have entered into any war or act of hostility against any Mehomitan nation, it is declared by the parties that no pretext arising from religious opinions shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries."

Ratified by the senate and 2nd president John Adams in 1797

And why is that relevant?

According to Article 6 of the US Constitution:

Clause 2: "This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land; and the Judges in every State shall be bound thereby, any Thing in the Constitution or Laws of any State to the Contrary notwithstanding. "

Not to mention that 16% of the US is now, Non-Religious...That's a larger group of people than Blacks, Gays, Jews, Muslims and Asians and roughly equal to the amount of Hispanics who live in this country.

For Those Who Don't Understand the Evolution of Our Universe

And if you are wondering where the matter for the explosion came from, it came from the same place you think god came from. So if god could have come from nothing, so could have the earliest matter in the universe...In fact, it's more likely that something simple came before something as complex and perfect as god.

Shockingly, A Mucisal Show About a Glee Club Includes Gays!

A. If you don't like it, change the channel...Watch Pat Robertson or something
B. You can't have a musical show about a Glee club without gay people...Just as you can't have any fashion shoot or awards ceremony in Hollywood...Get over it...They exist in the world.
C. We don't live in the United States of Jesus so what your Bible says is irrelevant
D. "Muslim's Kill Gays", Look in the mirror (if you still fit) So do Christians; remember Matthew Shepherd?
E. The only think you understand is how to get a doughnut in your mouth
F.
How about you make your own show about a Bible Club...I'll bet it will be a big hit...Good luck getting it produced without gay costume designers, set and story board designers and writers.
G. Having a show with gay kids is not anti-Christian; Christian implies the following of Christ yet Jesus never once addressed homosexuality.

Otherwise, shut your pie hole and mind your own business...It's your responsibility to deal with this shit with your kids, not Hollywood's...Hiding them from it doesn't make it go away. They need to learn now that life isn't like as it is depicted in a Sunday school coloring book!

Now You Know Why I Call Them Faux News

From CNN: 3/22/2011
CNN correspondent rejects Fox report on human shields

And if we can't trust them on matters of this magnitude and this easily disputed, can you really trust them when they talk about Obama's secret socialist intentions or how many people showed up at a rally organized by one of their pundits or climate change for that matter.

ATT Is Buying T-Mobile

http://www.businessinsider.com/att-buys-t-mobile-2011-3

Photobucket

Didn't the government break up ATT during the 80s due to the fact that they were basically a monopoly?? If so, how are they not now going to be a virtual monopoly? What was the point??

And this another one of those things were if Reagan were alive today he would be considered a Democrat...Under Obama's watch this is allowed to happen but it was not allowed to happen under Reagan's anti-business, over intrusive, big government...Not that the President has a say in the matter but still.

Another Chain Email Put In It's Place

So I guess this is another one of those chain emails that are going around the teabagger circles. It came to me with the heading: Not Funny, but true dummies at work liberals and democrats

Oh the irony of a Republican using the constitution to keep the "big government" from telling someone what kind of light bulbs to use but I am sure he has no problem telling a woman what to do with her own body (Poe is anti-choice and has a 0 rating from NARAL an abortion rights group and a 100 rating from the National Right to Life Committee) and telling people who they are allowed to marry (voted yes on constitutionally defining marriage) or who can and can't serve in the military or what people smoke in the privacy of their own homes...All powers also NOT given to congress in the constitution. It must also me noted that he has no problem with the big evil government giving subsidies to oil and gas companies...Not surprising for a Congressman from Texas. He actually voted against removing these subsidies.

He has some valid points but I wish people on his side of the isle would finally realize they are just as guilty of "big government" as the people on the other side of the isle...Remember when Reagan fired all the air traffic controllers? That is not the work of a small, unintrusive government, nor is the Patriot Act or telling people who they can marry.

And by the way, by using these light bulbs which are 5x more efficient (a 15 watt fluorescent is equivalent to a 60W and 90% of the energy generate in an incandescent is heat, not light) and last 5-6x longer than an incandescent bulb, means you drastically cut down on your energy bill, you spend less time changing bulbs and you have buy fewer bulbs...And coal plants emit far less CO2. My building switched to these bulbs for our porch and hall lights and we saved over $1200 last year...And it isn't even that big of a building...So you could say they are doing this FOR us, not TO us.

And by the way, we can make light bulbs in the US...Its just with the trade agreements congress makes, it rewards companies to move jobs to China. I don't like that these are made in China but for the people who would rather shop at Walmart to save a few dollars than buy American made goods elsewhere, that shouldn't be a problem.

And I also love the irony that, after railing about "big government", he complains that the GOVERNMENT, needs to do more to find better sources of energy (another responsibility not given to the government in the constitution) and that the people aren't capable of making America more efficient...It's someone elses job (that would be the government), not a shared individual responsibility...So who's the dummy here?

God is Causing Earth Quakes Again.

Not that there was any doubt as to how retarded Glenn Beck is but this takes the cake.

So when god takes a day off giving AIDS to babies in Africa, he "punishes" Japan with an earthquake to show them what a compassionate, loving god he is in hopes of them converting to Christianity...Makes about as much sense as Bin Laden flying planes into buildings trying to convince Americans to convert to Islam...But then again, it's Glenn Beck and he plays with his own poop.

And I find it interesting that within Christianity and Islam they tend towards god doing bad things and punishing people and being the evil, vengeful guy. You don't hear them when someone wins the lottery saying "He must have been doing something right in gods eye for rewarding him with the jackpot". So if your god is such a dick that he does these things, why would you worship him? What, just because he might throw a temper tantrum if you don't? That's who you want to spend eternity with?? I would rather be worm food or come back as a cow in India or something. What they should be asking is why would god let a catastrophe like this happen? And why not punish child molesters (AKA as gods priests) and child murderers and shit? And not only that, how do you explain all the flooding and tornado's in the Bible Belt?? Maybe that's Vishnu punishing the people of Arkansas for praying to a false god??

Clearly this quake had nothing to do with the North American and Pacific tectonic plates...No, nothing to do with that but god. What year is this? Does he still think you have to sacrifice virgins in order to get rain? Why do religious people always look to the supernatural before looking to science? Well, this is why they are more gullible and will believe shit like Jonah living in a whale and that you reduce the deficit with tax cuts.

Unions

"Then they came for the trade unionists and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist..."

If we don't stop them here, who are they coming for next? Imagine if Hitler would have been stopped by the trade unionists...Like the Communists were in Poland and thus ushering in democracy in the Eastern Block! ....Wait? Unionists were partly responsible for ending Communism in Europe?? It wasn't Ronald Reagan? You mean Faux News never talked about this?

Facts About Obama Spending and Debt

I am so tired of hearing from the tea baggers about how Obama ran up our debt and increased spending and is going to bankrupt the United States...It is true that spending under Obama has increased but I want to clear up all the misconceptions that you tea baggers have about how you are manipulating numbers to try and prove your point.

The bottom line is this: OBAMA HAS ONLY SUBMITTED TWO BUDGETS! THE 2010 and 2011 BUDGET. BUSH SUBMITTED THE 2009 BUDGET which was $3.1 Trillion.

Obama and Congress did have some stimulus add ons to the 2009 budget that added $185 billion (6%) to the 2009 fiscal year but it was ultimately drafted by the Bush administration.

That's how it works, the budget is always submitted the year prior to that fiscal year by the President which in this case was Bush in 2008 who submitted the 2009 budget.

So all the debt, deficit and spending numbers being used to calculate Obama's "increases" start with his 2010 budget, not Bush's 2009 budget.

The 2010 Budget was Obama's first budget. And of course with the small amount of spending increases by Obama, you have to account for the fact that he actually put the Iraq war ($130 Billion) on the budget (overseas military contingencies) which Bush did not(supplemental appropriations)...Not to mention the fact that the wars are still not over and we are still paying for them....And then of course all the interest on the Bush debt...And of course the decrease in revenue due to the Bush economy (-$420 Billion in 09). So not all of the increases in the 2010 budget were actual "Obama spending", like the $209 Billion, or 6% of our 2010 budget which is going towards interest on past debt, a lot of which is Bush's debt.

Here are the facts.

Ending in fiscal year 2001, the US had a surplus $127 Billion
The DEFICIT for Bush's 2009 budget was $1.42 Trillion.
Obama's 2010 Budget saw a deficit of $1.45 trillion...A 2% increase from Bush's 09 budget
Obama increased our national debt by 13.8% in 2010
Bush's increased the national debt 18.8% in 2009 and had increased the debt 11.2% in 2008.
The national debt at the end of 2000 before Bush's first budget was submitted was $5.6 Trillion, for the last Bush budget in 2009 the debt had increased to $11.9 Trillion, a 110% increase.

Over 60% of our budget is dedicated to the following:
Defense Spending (20%) - (Everything included, it's actually much higher than this)
Social Security (20%)
Medicare (13%)
Medicade (7%)

Obama didn't invent any of these, nor was he responsible for the wars or Empire which requires so much revenue for defense nor was he the one who has been borrowing from social security, nor did he have anything to do with the 2000 tax cuts ($2.2 Trillion) nor did he have anything to do with the HMO (Nixon) that allowed medical costs to skyrocket and thus make medicare and medicade as expensive as they are.

2009 also saw a 17% decrease in federal receipts (bad economy) from 2008...Also something Obama had nothing to do with.

So now we know that Obama has very little to do with our overall debt and deficit situation. The next time a teabagger tries to get away with blaming the 2009 budget on Obama, kick him square in his teabags.

I'm not the only one saying this!

Gov't Drops Defense of Anti-gay Marriage Law

Today the Obama administration said it will no longer defend a federal law that defines marriage as being between a man and a woman.

Of course, the Party of NO had this to say:

"While Americans want Washington to focus on creating jobs and cutting spending, the president will have to explain why he thinks now is the appropriate time to stir up a controversial issue that sharply divides the nation" - John Boehner's spokesman Michael Steel

But wouldn't a bunch of fabulously over the top gay weddings stimulate(no pun intended) the economy?? Who else is going to hire a bunch of dancers and swans and shit for their wedding?

And tax cuts for the rich divided the nation and Republicans had no problem with that or trying to block health care...Or a thousand other things.

I think the Republicans in congress are just mad because now all their gay escorts might start pushing for them to propose.

Education Isn't Everything but it is Something

Even though I have only recently started watching Countdown with Keith Olbermann, it saddens me to see his show go. I am not a guy who likes a certain political slant with my news, I like reading The Week from time to time which gives you both sides of the story for instance. Kieth and Rachel Maddow are definitely commenting from the left, no question about it and are going to tell the story with a left wing perspective...To a degree. What I was amazed to find when I recently started watching MSNBC (it wasn' t in HD) was not that they were making up crazy conspiracy theories like they do on Faux News, or that they were reporting on the hypothetical outcomes of certain news stories but what makes them left leaning is that they basically, as I do, spend most of their hour merely debunking all the lies from the right. Every show they go through a list of all the lies or made up nonsense from the right leaning pundits and politicians but are also very happy to point out all the contradictions of those on the right. And since the majority of the loud mouth teabaggers in this country are the ones who get the attention of the media, I say they do have a responsibility to debunk the myths and fantasies of the right.

Well, my point is, why do they get to sit from on top of their perch and point out the wrongs of other people?? Well, I'll tell you why. Because they are in a better position to do so. Just as a Climatologist is in a better position to tell you what is happening to the worlds ocean temperatures than Sarah Palin, and just as a Geologist is in a better position than Glenn Beck to tell you how old the Earth is or an Astronomer can explain to Bill Oreilly how the tides work, the people on MSNBC are educated! Highly educated compared to the mainstream pundits on the right. I know I have talked about this before but I don't think I have ever done a post about it so lets have a look at the education levels of these said pundits, Here's the big 3:

Rush Limbaugh: Graduated High school then flunked out of Southeast Missouri State

Sean Hannity:
Graduated High school and dropped out of both NYU and Adelphi University but later received an honorary degree from Jerry Falwell's Liberty University (AKA, not a real degree, not a real college)

Glenn Beck: Did barely graduate High school and although he took (and dropped out of) a Theology class at Yale, he was never enrolled in college full time.

On the other hand you have:

Keith Olbermann: Enrolled at Cornell University at the age of 16 and got a B.A. degree

Rachel Maddow: Has a degree in public policy from Stanford and a Doctorate in Philosophy (politics) from Oxford University

Arianna Huffington: Holds a BA in Economics from Cambridge University's, Girton College

Now it starts to make sense why one side is prone to believe in fairy tales and other stories that couldn't possibly be true and why one side is constantly debunking these fairy tales.

Again, just because someone didn't graduate from a prestigious college doesn't make them an idiot and certainly anyone who graduates from an Ivy League school isn't automatically an expert on everything but it would certainly be hard to call them an idiot.

And when it comes to economic policy and or politics, who would you have more faith listening to...Glenn Beck? A guy who believes in magic underwear and smoked pot and drank every day for about 20 years of his life or someone who has an actual degree in policy and economics?? At least Bill Oreilly has a degree in history...Which proves my point, just because someone has a degree in history for instance, it doesn't mean that they understand everything...Like how the tides work for instance...Which if you were unaware, God controls them.

Gee, What Could Possibly Incite a Teabagger to Shoot People?

And you thought the guy flying his plane into the IRS building was the end of it??

So what incites these people to go bat shit crazy??

"Commonsense Conservatives & lovers of America: 'Don't Retreat, Instead - RELOAD!' - Sarah Palin - Twitter

"Gather your armies" - In A Rick Barber Campaign ad featuring close ups of guns.

"I hope that's not where we're going, but you know if this Congress keeps going the way it is, people are really looking toward those Second Amendment remedies and saying my goodness what can we do to turn this country around? I'll tell you the first thing we need to do is take Harry Reid out." - Sharon Angle, Senate Candidate Nevada

"The Second Amendment is the right to keep and bear arms for our citizenry...This is for us...This is for us when our government becomes tyrannical..." - Sharon Angle

"the second American revolution is being played out right now." - Glenn Beck

"There's a couple things shocking that I found yesterday...", "The other is what we are doing n Arizona...I think we are headed for civil war". - The Glenn Beck Program June 23rd 2010

We are at the point, Sean (Hannity), of revolution. And by that, what I mean, an orderly revolution.", "We have to rise up and say, 'no more. not on my watch. no more.'" - Michelle Bachman

"I want people in Minnesota armed and dangerous on this issue of the energy tax because we need to fight back." - Michelle Bachman

"We'll use the bullet box if we fail at the ballet box" - Catharine Crabill, former candidate for Virginia's 1st congressional district

More to come soon I am sure.

Not to mention all the "We came unarmed...this time" signs you see at the Klan, I mean, Teabagger rallies...Even though they are actually showing up armed. Or the head stomping at the Rand Paul rally or Sean Hannity placing poll questions on his web page asking his readers which type of treason appeals to them the most and offering the three answers: A. military coup, B. Armed Rebellion, C. War of Secession.

Personally, I vote for just Secession. All the red states can elect oil lobbyists as their politicians, go to war with Mexico, give every 8 year old an AK-47 and find a way to fund all their federally subsidized states on their own. We won't even fight you for it!!

Photobucket

And I wonder if this will all subside when we have get another white WASPy President again? I mean think about it, we elected the 1st Irish Catholic President in 1960 and haven't had another one since. And of course there were fears from southerners and everyone else that when we elected this non-WASP that the Pope would end up running the country but that never happened just as Obama has only lowered your taxes and expanded the rights of gun owners.

And let's not forget these nuts who were most definitely inspired by Glenn Beck:
Byron Williams (Oakland)
Richard Poplawski (Pittsburgh)
and the thwarted attacks by Kenneth Kimbley (Idaho)

And probably Joseph Stack as well.
