Lesbians Caused Hurricane Katrina

This is a quote from Robertson concerning a gay pride parade in Orlando:

"I would warn Orlando that you're right in the way of some serious hurricanes, and I don't think I'd be waving those flags in God's face if I were you."

Here are some more crazy Christians blaming the Hurricane on "sinners".

From: http://www.repentamerica.com/pr_hurricanekatrina.html

"Just days before "Southern Decadence", an annual homosexual celebration attracting tens of thousands of people to the French Quarters section of New Orleans, Hurricane Katrina destroys the city. "Southern Decadence" has a history of filling the French Quarters section of the city with drunken homosexuals engaging in sex acts in the public streets and bars. Last year, a local pastor sent video footage of sex acts being performed in front of police to the mayor, city council, and the media. City officials simply ignored the footage and continued to welcome and praise the weeklong celebration as being an "exciting event". However, Hurricane Katrina has put an end to the annual celebration of sin. "

"Although the loss of lives is deeply saddening, this act of God destroyed a wicked city," stated Repent America director Michael Marcavage. "From 'Girls Gone Wild' to 'Southern Decadence,' New Orleans was a city that had its doors wide open to the public celebration of sin. From the devastation may a city full of righteousness emerge," he continued. "

Message: If you have sex God will kill you with a Hurricane. God doesn't care about all the murderers, crack heads, crooked lying, greedy politicians in Washington DC, all the child prostitution in Thailand and Moldova or all the drug murders in Colombia; he only punishes chick's who like to chow box.

He is a fickle God indeed.

I bet if we made a list of the disasters that have happened in this country, we would find that each one correlates to the appearance of a lesbian on television.

Did he REALLY say those things?!? I know the man is an asshole, but my god!

Unfortunately I am a pacifist, but he should get booted out of office, immediately.

I can't find any proof that he said that. There are some pages of satire that quote him as saying that, but I can't find any serious ones that say that.

Ill find the link from the news article.

I wrote a post about this right after and people got really mad at me, saying, "No one's saying that Gid did it because of the gays." I just want state for the record, I TOLD THEM SO!

If God's wrath is the price for hot girl on girl action, I say that it must be endured.

Hey Toad. Is it any wonder that a lesbian was somehow involved. Im surprised Rev Patty didn't link the hurricane to his other usual favorites besides gays, abortionists, feminists, liberals, trial lawyers, etc.

I can't say anything else that hasn't already been said. Id really like to see that link though. Of course I believe that Robertson said these things, but Id just like to add the link to the quote to my running tally on this bastard. Thanks

Hey I just came across this article from Snopes

http://www.snopes.com/politics/katrina/robertson.asp

Looks like the quote may have been from a satire site. I guess it only serves him right for saying all of the other bullshit that he HAS said. If there was a god Im sure Robertsons days would have been numbered years ago.

Men like Pat Robertson truly bring shame to Christianity and completely misrepresent the character of God’s Holy Nature.

Hurricane Katrina was a natural disaster brought on by ill-planning and neglected repairs. If God really wanted to destroy New Orleans, He can do a heck of a lot better than flooding out the city. God could have opened up the earth and swallowed it WHOLE without any trace of its existence, if He really wanted to.

If God is randomly punishing sinful cities for its lawlessness – WE all better flee from town quick, because we could be next!

Over at the Watchpost is a good commentary titled:
On the Wrath of God. Check it out!

yeah, that patty is a kook. I hope you're not using an extremist like that to sum up a whole world religion. I've avoided summing up Islam from what Osama Bin Laden says.

OK I can't find too many other places with his quote; it's not on his website so I am really not sure if he said this; well I am sure he said it, I just don't know if he said it to the media.

Maybe CIA tapped into one of his secret convos with the deity...no less a terrorist than Yasser Arafat

Tara in GA here...
Listen..it all boils down to this. If you are a TV evangelist..you can pretty much hang up the possiblity of actually living as God teaches through Scripture. Robertson does not represent what true Christians are. I lump him right in there with Billy Graham and James Dobson. They do NOT teach the whole Truth. I have the blessing of sitting under some awesome teaching but not everyone does and therefore they believe whatever they hear. If you truly want to know what God feels about sin...there are many, solid, Bible teaching and believing ministries online. Here are two for now:
www.rzim.com
www.gracetoyou.com
I am in complete agreement with what dani said in that if God wanted to destroy, He doesn't have limitations as we humans do. This is a problem we have too often here.....comparing God to us instead of comparing us to God. Anyway, there you go. Most true Christians, or mature I should say, don't follow what the TV guys say!!
Thanks!

Hi, It wasn't Pat Roberts. It was "Repent America." You can find one original report of the story here:

Of course the corollary to all this "god has punished the wicked" rigmarole is that because I escaped unscathed, I have god's tacit approval of my life and ideas. Yea, me!

It almost couldn't be a devastating tragedy or disaster in America without Rev Patty weighing in to make it all that much worse. I knew he would have something to say in relation to Katrina and surely he did.

Robertson commented the other night that something good that will come out of the tragic hurricane is that John Roberts wouldn't face much of an opposition to get voter in as C.J.

He said that Roberts can "be thankful that a tragedy has brought him some good"

Its not level with his more disgusting comments but I guess everyone has an off day.
