Good Gun Logic

From cnn 4/5/05 8:04pm est:
TALLAHASSEE, Florida (AP) -- Gov. Jeb Bush said Tuesday he intends to sign a bill that would allow people who feel threatened -- even on the street or at a baseball game -- to "meet force with force" and defend themselves without fear of prosecution.

What that means is if you see a guy on the street who you think is going to rob you, or you see as a threat, you have the right to pull out a gun and shoot him first. In other words, if you're white and you see two black kids approaching you, you can go Goetz on them.

So does this means one could shoot Jeb Bush if they saw him on the street? After all, He could be perceived as a threat to world peace, national security, the US economy and our civil liberties if he were to run for President.

Imagine the irony. That would almost be like sticking your head out of the window of a moving car and trying to spit, only to have it come back and hit you in the face. But then again, he is a Bush and that probably makes perfect sense to him.

The "Kill Bill" (HB249) is of course backed by the NRA and sponsored by Florida Republican Bill Baxley, the same nut who is responsible for Florida HB 837, which would allow Conservative Christians and Nazi's to sue "liberal" professors at state colleges if they talk about "controversial" subjects such as evolution and the holocaust.

Ugh. That's just sad. Anyone feel like doing a study on how that will affect the rate of violent fatalities after this?

By the way ... don't be surprised if your blog gets a few hits from US Treasury agents. I work for an ISP, and believe me they do investigate everything that has the key words of "shoot" and "Bush" in the same sentence. Umm. Whoops. I guess I'll be getting a few hits now, too. Regardless, I have received calls from the Secret Service about something one of my users posted - and that was before 9/11 and the Patriot Act.

Welcome to the police state. Ain't fascism grand?

Not to worry, we have the 1st amendment to protect us.

Right?

Uh oh, I forgot that the first amendment only guarantees free speech for Christians.

Whatever happened to that assault weapons ban? They're legal again, right? This might be a good time to reconsider.

We should just give Florida to Cuba. If you live in Florida don't ever vote for Bill Baxley.

Here comes another SS hit. Why don't we get the whole Bush clan to move to Florida, and then pass out the assault weapons. Wouldn't that be the best reality tv show.

This is so frightening.

Yes, there will be idiots who feel threatened by someone simply breathing. But to look at the bright side, natural selection will take over and we will all benefit by seeing these people removing themselves from our already polluted gene pool.

As much as I hate bush, I'm not really against this.

I say give everyone guns. Wont be long til the idiots start getting weeded out.

As much as I hate people, it would be nice if they started clearing each other out however, what if it's me that "threatens" someone? Better yet, what if the idiot can't aim and instead of taking out the threat he takes out five fourth graders standing on a bus stop?
All you have to do is look at gang violence; these assholes don't even aim and the bullets rarely find their target. Remember these people would also be able to shoot anyone they see as threat.
I guess my big problem with the bill is that it doesn't define threat, or even worse a "perceived threat" it uses words like reasonable. What is reasonable to one person may not be reasonable to another person, especially the one on the receiving end of the bullet.
I back the 2nd amendment, but only for myself, I really don't trust anyone else with a gun; most of the mouth breathing American public can't even get your drive thru order straight and you guys want to give them the freedom to make decisions on who to shoot?
If more guns made you safer, America, South Africa, and Iraq would be the safest places in the world.

I think the Bush Clan might be the first people I'd pull a gun on... afterall who's more threatening than George Bush??

I'm against the giving FL to Cuba thing. I like my state. But I guess I could move to California if it did happen.

There's a reason Florida has been in the news every week since Elian Gonzalez.

Did you read about what Nugent just said at the NRA Convention? That idiot is dangerous.
