Kids (most) Get It, Why Can't Adults?

This is a pretty good video by Nickelodeon. It's amazing how many kids understand what few adults can...Of course, there is also the kids who you can tell their parents are influencing them to pretend that America is a "Christian nation" but still...And these kids are too young to know that the "God" part of the pledge of allegiance and "God"; being printed on our currency is a relatively new thing that was added to our Pledge and currency during the 50's and technically, still unconstitutional. And if majority rules, why is it illegal to refuse service to black people in the south? At one point, the majority supported segregation but that clearly didn't make it right or constitutional.

And you have to feel sorry for the free thinkers in places like rural Virgina and Alabama....Or the Muslims in Tennessee and of course the irony of the violence against that Tennessee mosque, which the Christians there are calling violent.

And then of course there is the irony of all the Christians and how big of a boner they get for the 10 Commandments when they clearly use/worship a cross when the the 2nd Commandment clearly tells them not to use such images, they worship not only God but Jesus and the Holy Ghost (and even Mary) when the 1st Commandment clearly states they are only to worship God and then they go to church on Sundays which goes against what the 4th Commandment instructs them to do when it says they need to worship on the 7th day of the week, not the first. And then of course there is the fact that only 2 of the commandments are something in our common law you can go to jail for breaking and those actually originated not from Moses, but from Hammurabi of Babylon 300 years before the 10 Commandments were even written.

If you think the US is a Christian nation, you are an idiot.

Treaty of Tripoli Article 11:

"As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion; as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquillity, of Musselmen; and as the said States never have entered into any war or act of hostility against any Mehomitan nation, it is declared by the parties that no pretext arising from religious opinions shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries."

Ratified by the senate and 2nd president John Adams in 1797

And why is that relevant?

According to Article 6 of the US Constitution:

Clause 2: "This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land; and the Judges in every State shall be bound thereby, any Thing in the Constitution or Laws of any State to the Contrary notwithstanding. "

Not to mention that 16% of the US is now, Non-Religious...That's a larger group of people than Blacks, Gays, Jews, Muslims and Asians and roughly equal to the amount of Hispanics who live in this country.

Technically it's not a Christian nation. It's mostly a Christian nation, because it mostly has Christians. No need to have a pissy fit about it just because your an Atheist Satanist.

Satanist?? You are the one who believes in a red guy with horns and a pitchfork...Not me...And I am sure he is real because it makes so much sense.

The majority of Americans are Christian...The majority of Americans are also white but this isn't a "white nation".

Anonymous said...

Its not. It's just mostly white. In case you don't know, Atheists Satanists are a certain group of atheists/Satanists. They don't believe in God or Satan, they just constantly and completely mock the Christian faith and/ or other religions. You, by definition sir, a Atheist Satanist.

Toad734 said...

What was I mocking? Pointing out facts or debunking common biblical stories and beliefs is not mocking... If someone says they discover a dinosaur bone that is only 100,000 years old and then other scientists conclude it was merely an extinct mammal, those other scientists aren't mocking the other guy, just correcting him.

People think Moses invented these laws and these laws were founded as the basis of laws in the United States and that therefore, since we started adding god to our secular currency and pledge of allegiance, that means we are a "Christian Nation"...I just cleared up that misconception...There was no mocking.

And if you call me a Satanist, I will start calling you a Muslim.

My friends the Jehohova witnesses were by again this month. Nice folks,
not pushy. "Did you read the Watchtower article on the location of the Garden of Eden?" "Yes, I did, you people placed it right where I thought you would."
"Oh, so you DO believe in the Garden of Eden?" No,
its just that Eden and the Arc were always thought to be upriver." Upriver...
the Jordan?" "No the Euphrates, remember the Hebrews stole most of their writing from the
Babylonians, the folks on the Euphrates" ..they were crestfallen, but polite. Why do they keep coming back?

Just lighten up and learn some tolerance. "God" on the money can mean anything. Even Allah, or the null-God that the Atheists have faith does not exist.

I might take you up on your cause if you can tell me how changing the money and censoring "under God" would cost nothing at all. Because if there is any cost to the government to make this change, you are wasting taxpayer dollars in order to express your intolerance of religions other than your own.

Fun fact: 52 of the 56 signers of the Declaration of Independence were Christians.

I doubt there is any way to actually confirm that but even if that is true, what's your point??

Here is a fact: 56 out of the 56 were white men...Does that mean women have no place in America? Or that America is founded for and on behalf of only white men or that it should be ruled only by white men and based on white male principles?

This was a time before Darwin...It's not like they had many other options and since they basically would have never let Jews or anyone of another religion participate in something like this.

Another fun fact: George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, and John Hancock were Christians. Another fun fact: this nation has the most Christians. My point is that when people say this is a Christian nation, there's plenty of good explanations why. By the way, the 1st amendment says freedom OF religion, not freedom FROM religion, so there's really no reason to completely separate church from state. If you want to be in a country that mostly has atheist and nonreligious people, then go to China or something.

Toad734 said...

This nation has the most gay people too...And fat people...What's your point?

And I would say if you want to live in a nation without separation of church and state, move to Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan or Iran...Right, we see how well those systems work.

And no, George Washington was not a Christian...In fact, he never even stepped into the church when he would pick his wife up from there.

And here is what your founding fathers thought of religion and Christianity:

"Christianity neither is, nor ever was a part of the common law."
Thomas Jefferson 1814

"I am for freedom of religion and against all maneuvers to bring about a legal ascendancy of one sect over another."
Thomas Jefferson, 1799

"This would be the best of all possible worlds, if there were no religion in it."
John Adams

“Religion and government will both exist in greater purity, the less they are mixed together.”
James Madison -Father of the Constitution

“Religious bondage shackles and debilitates the mind and unfits it for every noble enterprise, every expanded prospect.”
James Madison

"The establishment of the chaplainship to Congress is a palpable violation of equal rights, as well as of constitutional principles."
James Madison

"as to religion, I hold it to be the indispensable duty of our government to protect all conscientious professors thereof, and I know of no other business which the government hath to do therewith."
Thomas Paine

"Those who would renegotiate the boundaries between church and state must therefore answer a difficult question: why would we trade a system that has served us so well for one that has served others so poorly?"
Justice Sandra Day O'Conner, 2005

There's quotes and info supporting views of religion and/or Christianity. Although I don't feel like putting them in, I will if you want me to.

I don't think the two factors should be completely mushed together, just enough to encourage prayer in schools

Toad734 said...

Yes I totally believe kids should stop, face Mecca 5 times a day and pray during school...Because that's what they are for...Church is where you go to learn about evolution...Right?

Anonymous said...

Some churches are like that. No need to push religion on anybody, just do something like, "For those who want to participate in a schoolwide prayer, come to the field house. For those who don't, go with the course of the day." or something like that. And yes, I do realize atheists would come to the field house too.

What's Mecca... Is that like a Catholic thing?

Toad734 said...

I don't see where religion needs to be in any facet of school...Again, if you want that, there are madrassas in Saudi Arabia...We all know how well those work...Instead of learning and history and math, why not waste time praying...And you wonder why America is so far behind...Cause we use all our time thinking about praying and not thinking about trigonometry...And then instead of knowing it's a type of math, we think it's a good name for our Son's.

What's Mecca? Well, it's what kids next to your kids would be praying to 5 times a day if you allowed one type of prayer in school. Still sound like a good idea??
