Gov't Drops Defense of Anti-gay Marriage Law

Today the Obama administration said it will no longer defend a federal law that defines marriage as being between a man and a woman.

Of course, the Party of NO had this to say:

"While Americans want Washington to focus on creating jobs and cutting spending, the president will have to explain why he thinks now is the appropriate time to stir up a controversial issue that sharply divides the nation" - John Boehner's spokesman Michael Steel

But wouldn't a bunch of fabulously over the top gay weddings stimulate(no pun intended) the economy?? Who else is going to hire a bunch of dancers and swans and shit for their wedding?

And tax cuts for the rich divided the nation and Republicans had no problem with that or trying to block health care...Or a thousand other things.

I think the Republicans in congress are just mad because now all their gay escorts might start pushing for them to propose.

"And tax cuts for the rich divided the nation"

Is this sarcasm? For one, your summary needs a correction.

The tax cuts were for all taxpayers, only a minority of whom were rich.

For another, it did not divide the nation. The nation was overwhelmingly in favor of doing the right thing: extending them for everyone.

The right thing being what $2.2 Trillion deeper in debt?

I really don't think the nation was overwhelmingly in favor of extending the tax cuts for the rich...They were in favor of extending tax cuts for the middle class but only Republicans wanted tax cuts for the rich...Of course.

A joke making the rounds pretty well sums it up:
"A public union employee, a tea party activist, and a CEO are sitting at a table with a plate of a dozen cookies in the middle of it. The CEO takes 11 of the cookies, turns to the tea partier and says, 'Watch out for that union guy. He wants a piece of your cookie."
