But Only If They Had More Guns

2 Kids, 1 Adult Killed in Stabbing Spree at Belgian Day Care

From Fox News: 1/23/09
DENDERMONDE, Belgium — A man went on a rampage at a Belgian day care center Friday, stabbing two young children and a female worker to death and slashing 12 others all over their bodies, officials said.

But only if the Belgians had more access to guns this sort of thing....Oh, wait, right, many, many more people would be dead because it's faster and easier to kill kids with an AK-47 than with a knife. (See Columbine, Jonesboro Arkansas, San Ysidro McDonalds, Luby's Massacre in Killen, Tx, Virginia Tech, NIU, etc.)

Of course, if they allowed 3 year olds to carry guns then the victims could have shot the perpetrator before he stabbed them...Ya, that's it.

Oh, and apparently we have a new President who was just sworn in this week and get this, he's black!

Hey, thanks for reading my blog and commenting.

As for the stabbing, I think it kind of works against the pro-gun control argument, because it shows that even when you take away the "gun problem", you're still left with a "knife problem". Human beings will find a way to kill each other no matter what. We've been doing it since practically the dawn of time.

Not saying I don't agree with your post, but it is something to think about.

But how many times have you heard of a kid in a swingset being killed in a stray knife during a drive by stabbing? In Britain, the leading type of murder is bludgeoning, so yes, people still kill but on a much smaller scale. How many people were murdered in Britain last year? And how many people have the balls to stab someone and feel the knife cut their skin and look into the eyes of the person who is dying? A 4 year old can pull the trigger of a gun from 200 feet away and not even know if he did kill anyone.

The point I make is not that we should ban guns per say or that we should eliminate the 2nd amendment. The point is that more guns always = more gun deaths, guns make it easier for everyone to kill, having a gun makes you more likely to be killed by a gun and too many people have easy access to very dangerous weapons and cigarettes are regulated more than guns.

I've read that Switzerland is full of guns. It's not a hell of violent crime, is it?

"The gun policy in Switzerland is unique in Europe. The personal weapon of militia personnel is kept at home as part of the military obligations. This, in addition to liberal gun laws and strong shooting traditions, has led to a very high gun count per capita. Switzerland has one of the highest gun ownership rates in the world....

Police statistics for the year 2006[11] records 34 killings or attempted killings involving firearms, compared to 69 cases involving bladed weapons and 16 cases of unarmed assault. Cases of assault resulting in bodily harm numbered 89 (firearms) and 526 (bladed weapons)."

-----------

Switzerland seems to contradict the claim "The point is that more guns always = more gun deaths

Oh ya, they have a lot of guns but why don't you read up on your gun laws. Something the NRA doesn't tell you is that ammunition is highly regulated and can only be used (for the high powered rifles the Army gives out) at shooting ranges and every box of ammunition is inspected on a regular basis and if there is a bullet missing, and it isn't accounted for in a gun range, you have a lot of explaining to do and it probably isn't that hard for them to figure out who just put a bullet in the dead guy down the street. So yes, a lot of guns, but some of the strictest gun control in the world and not just any 15 year old can go to K Mart and buy as many gun and as much ammunition as he wants.

If you are for that type of gun control they have in Switzerland, sign me up because we can all agree that it works. So except for one of the worlds wealthiest nations the size of South Carolina, more guns = more gun deaths pretty much across the board.
