A Letter From 2012

By now, I am sure everyone has heard about James Dobson's Focus on the Family letter to his cult. Like many far reich wing loonies, the letter mainly focuses on a world run by homosexuals if Obama is elected. Now, some reich wingers like Ted Haggard and Mark Foley would welcome such a change but to many reich wing, compound living, pioneer costume wearing, born again Christians, the thought of 2% of the population doing things in dark places in California and not being persecuted for it, is too much to handle.

The letter even talks about guns, something Jesus violently supported and defended and would clearly support today. I mean, how else can you deal with Liberal homosexuals who are trying to recruit your children? The letter also addresses Supreme Court Nominees (homosexuals), home schooling (not homosexuals), Boy Scout Troop leaders (also homosexuals), prayer in school (restricted by homosexuals), homosexual adoption agencies, the supposed banning of religious speech on the radio and TV (but only of course when they talk about killing homosexuals), Abortion (the one thing homosexuals don't need), pornography (how Obama will put gay porn on prime time), military policy (the military without homosexuals), All the terrorist attacks which would be caused by homosexuals, although, they didn't say if these terrorist attacks would come from the Christian Reich or from Islamic militants (upset over homosexual parades), Health Care (it's only expensive because of AIDS stricken homosexuals; only homos can get AIDS), Taxes, the economy and the poor (Homosexuals raise taxes to pay for gay weddings), prosecution of the Bush Administration's officials by homosexuals (but if the shoe fits), the restriction of hate speech, etc., you know, all those things Jesus preached about. Well, actually, almost nothing Jesus taught about and almost nothing to do with Christianity and being Christ-like but everything about hating blacks, Muslims and obviously homosexuals, unless of course you have been cured of your homosexuality like Ted Haggard, for instance. Not only that, it basically says Obama is the anti-Christ and if you vote for him you will burn in eternal hell fire.

Here is a link to this letter: http://focusfamaction.edgeboss.net/download/focusfamaction/pdfs/10-22-08_2012letter.pdf

I was going to write my own letter to rational, normal, smart, educated, secular people warning of the catastrophe it would be if Sarah Palin were to choose Supreme Court Justices and how only the rights of the Protestant Christian Reich would be protected and everyone would have to capitulate to their rule. I was also going to write about all the wars McCain was sure to start and how our great civilization, as all great civilizations have, would collapse under the McCain's war expansion plan and complete ignorance of the economy. I was going to write that letter but it would have ended up being 30 pages long like Dobson's and no one wants to read that shit.

Boy, Dobson's bunch knows how to paint a picture of a bleak future with no freedom and utter moral depravity. I'm guessing hearing about that future made you hard. :)

They forgot that Obama has to get the filibuster-proof Senate and has to not lose control in 2012 to really do all the stuff they fear.

But behind all that crazy faith stuff that so unnerves you, they do make some legitimate points that concern conservatives, including:

- appointment of more activist judges

- restricting free speech with rules like the Fairness doctrine

- further bastardization of the First Amendment by ignoring the religion free exercise clause in favor of the non-constitutional "separation of church and state"

- redefining the Second Amendment to the "militia' point of view

- the nature of a tax plan that punishes achievement

Now you'll notice I left all the homosexuality and pornography out (wouldn't want you to lose your man-ass sex and me lose my spank material). But what that letter paints is no less diabolical than what many of the crazy on the left concoct about the Bush legacy or the dangers of Sarah Palin.

But the Christians will FORGIVE YOU!!!! for getting so worked up. Even if you'll burn in H!E!L!L! (and I'll probably join you just for the music)

I, and my gay niece and nephew, fart in Dobson's general direction.

BTW, may I add that Patrick is a decent man.

Activist Judges? You mean like the guy in Alabama who snuck in on the Courthouse grounds in the middle of the night and took it upon himself to install a giant statue of the 10 Commandments? That's an activist judge, not someone who is educated enough to understand the constitution, the framers intentions and the law better than James Dobson.

Free speech? All I hear on the radio is conservative hate speech. I don't think you have anything to worry about there. The fairness doctrine is a thing of the past, its no longer an issue.

As far as the first amendment is concerned, its liberals, artists and entertainers who should be concerned with what an activist conservative Judicial and Executive branch may do to them. Thankfully people like Ted Stevens are on the way out. The 1st amendment gives you the freedom of religion and to not have to live under religious subjugation. Kids, taking time out of the day, distracting the class to pray, even though their religion doesn't call for them to pray in the middle of the day, is not practicing freedom of religion. Freedom of religion means the State cannot introduce laws based on the principles of certain religions, endorse one religion over another or force people to learn about particular religious dogma. What it allows you to do is to build the church of your choosing, pray all you want in that church, in your home and even in the middle of the street all you want. But until you let me teach math, science and evolution in your church, stop trying to use my schools as your church away from church. Your rights end once they start intruding on mine.

The second amendment is already defined to a militia point of view. It says it in plain english. In fact, I think liberals have been very...well, liberal, in interpreting that part of the 2nd amendment. We can look at the founding fathers traditions and the era it was written and realize that although they put that in there to protect and defend our country from the British and French, of course they knew most of the population was rural and depended on hunting for both food and sport. What they didn't envision was 12 year olds getting military weapons
which fire 1000 armor piercing bullets per second.

What does the Bible say about taxes? Pay unto Caesars what is Caesars. That's it. How is that even a Christian issue. All taxes punish achievement in one way or another. They also punish sin, crime, greed, etc. but Death and Taxes is something you cannot escape. Are you saying that they guy who mows your lawn or fixes your car doesn't achieve anything but the CEO of AIG did? Thats bullshit, in fact, its probably quite the opposite.

Christians don't forgive or forget...not the mainstream ones like Dobson and his followers anyway. When is the last time you met a Christian who is Christ like? MLK?

The dangers about Palin are unknown other than she an idiot who thinks God wants Alaska to be its own country, the US to kill Iraqis and without condoms kids wont have sex. Her dangers could be greater than Bush , Obama or McCain combined because we know nothing about her policies...other than the fact you better have a back up job if you screw her sister.

McCain isn't as extreme as Dobson or even Palin so I don't know why Dobson likes him so much. Sure he is pro-life but would never make a national law banning it. He is probably anti gay marriage but would never make a federal law banning it. He does want to stay in IRaq for 100 years and start wars with Iran, Russia, N Korea and possibly China and Syria so he could to a lot of damage there and the fact that he knows DICK about the economy. Little does he know the economy is related to Iraq, war, oil prices, deregulation, etc. Remember, McCain is the deregulator!

Oh, and what does Jesus have to do with the 2nd Amendment?

Shaw: You're just trying to get be to blush.

Toad: You make it so easy:

You mean like the guy in Alabama who snuck in on the Courthouse grounds in the middle of the night and took it upon himself to install a giant statue of the 10 Commandments?

That cockstain? Yeah, he's an activist judge. I have a problem with any judge that wants to rewrite the law to fit his worldview.

The fairness doctrine is a thing of the past, its no longer an issue.

Not true, sir. From Wikipedia:

* On June 24, 2008, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (who represents San Francisco, California) told reporters that her fellow Democratic Representatives did not want to forbid reintroduction of the Fairness Doctrine, adding “the interest in my caucus is the reverse.” When asked by John Gizzi of Human Events, “Do you personally support revival of the ‘Fairness Doctrine?’”, the Speaker replied "Yes."

* A year earlier, in June 2007, Senator Richard Durbin (Democrat of Illinois) said, "It’s time to reinstitute the Fairness Doctrine,” an opinion shared by his Democratic colleague, Senator John Kerry of Massachusetts.

And these people will be in control under an Obama administration, and if I look for it, he's probably ready to sign it.

As far as the first amendment is concerned....

First, I'm with you on protecting liberal artists and such. No form of expression should be banned based on ideology or morality. I'm sure Dobson would disagree but he has the right to say that, and get a spoon and eat my ass.

There are 2 parts to the freedom of religion, the establishment clause and the fee exercise clause. Government can't support any one religion (which does not preclude general prayers and such), and can't stop people from exercising their own faith (with the caveat that they don't violate the rights of others doing so).

The second amendment is already defined to a militia point of view.

No, Heller v DC said the exact opposite.

What they didn't envision was 12 year olds getting military weapons which fire 1000 armor piercing bullets per second.

LOL. I'd like to see an example even approaching that.

What does the Bible say about taxes?

Precious little. But I'll be kind and let you in on a little secret. Big churches need big money to function (I was an usher and got to count the collection). Any tax system that creates undue burdens can put a dent in what goes on the collection plate.

But other than that, there's that commandment about not stealing. And at some point, taxes cease to be a civic duty and become simply legislated theft.

Christians don't forgive or forget...

I think I'll have to do a post on that so the Christian bloggers that visit me can have it out with you over that. Now, if I considered myself a Christian (I don't because of people like Dobson) I would point to my own life and prove you wrong instantly.

The dangers about Palin are unknown other than she an idiot...

Spoken like a true moonbat.

McCain isn't as extreme as Dobson or even Palin so I don't know why Dobson likes him so much.

He's not Obama. That's about it.

Remember, McCain is the deregulator!

Obviously you forgot about such things as McCain-Feingold.

what does Jesus have to do with the 2nd Amendment?

I'll have to do this from memory...

Blessed are the concealed carry holders, for they shall snuff out scum. :)

Well, why don't the wingnuts have a problem with that activism? Because it's shit they want. They don't care about legislating from the bench, they just don't like when a judge makes a decision that isn't based on the Bible. Since the Constitution isn't based on the Bible like the cock smoker in Alabama thinks, its not legislating from the bench when they say you can't force a public shcool to allow time for church services.

Ok, so we don't currently live under the fairness doctrine.

Well how about this for the second amendment, the kids in Alabama who shot up their school, when they get, or got out of jail, they will be able to own guns. They were kids, shooting kids and what do we do, give them more guns? Benjamin Franklin would punch someone if the face if he heard about that shit.

But the 2nd amendment does indeed clearly say militia, I guess the Activist judges in Heller vs. DC legislated from the bench.

So you are saying Palin isn't an idiot? Oh, right, now that someone told her what the Bush Doctrine is and she met Kissinger, she is no longer an idiot.

Do I really need to point you towards 10,000 quotes of McCain calling himsself a deregulator?

And as far as Jesus and the 2nd is concerned i recall him saying something like "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone".

Patrick M said...

Toad, do you ever get tired of this?

I guess the Activist judges in Heller vs. DC legislated from the bench.

Uh, no again. The ruling was based on figuring out the founder's intent based on the exact meaning of the wording. I read through the whole damned ruling. It was the "operative clause" that states the right: "the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." which is not limited by the prefatory clause that references the militia. In other words, they upheld the already existing interpretation rather than changing (legislating) it.

So you are saying Palin isn't an idiot?

Yeah. I don't expect you to accept my explanation on this though.

Do I really need to point you towards 10,000 quotes of McCain calling himsself a deregulator?

No, because then I might feel the need to defend him. Don't want to do that.

And as far as Jesus and the 2nd is concerned i recall him saying something like "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone".

I'd have chucked a stone at this point, just for shits and giggles. Yeah, I'd mess with JC. Which reminds me of this clip....
