"They Hate Us For Our Freedom"

From CNN Tuesday, March 14, 2006; Posted: 12:36 p.m. EST
SAN FRANCISCO, California (AP) -- The Bush administration is renewing its effort to find out what people have been looking for on Google Inc.'s Internet-leading search engine, continuing a legal showdown over how much of the Web's vast databases should be shared with the government.

If Bush and the United States Government is so concerned with "spreading freedom" (AKA oil profits) in other parts of the world why are they trying to restrict freedoms within the United States?

This one isn't even about terrorism; it's about bad lazy parenting. This is all in efforts to keep children from looking at internet porn. I have a great idea, put a password on you computer and don't let your children use it unless you are in the room with them. If you can't take care of and keep your children safe on your own then you just shouldn’t have kids. It's not the government’s job to raise your kids. Let them focus on keeping us safe from another terrorist attack, not babysitting your kids!

I've heard too many parents whine that it's so difficult raising a child these days, as opposed to the pioneer days where all they had to worry about was starvation and man-eating bears, but not modern hardships like a superbowl breast flash or gay cowboy movies. Some parents think the government needs to take a more active role in raising their kids, but like all people who want government regulated religion they naturally assume the president will have the same morals and goals that they do.

I agree.
I don't even think internet porn is the worst thing that parents need to worry about. There are always things like bigotry, racism, and conservative talk radio that are more damaging to a child's personality.

Try putting the word "feel" "taste" or some other sensory word in google. I bet not just innocent things will show up! I tried it for fun with "wet" and got an interesting hit on a sex friendly deal in Seattle...the Wetspot. Sounded cool, actually.

However, just because these things are in our face online, doesn't mean anything less will not be in our face on tv or the radio. All of our electronics, excluding my son's electric guitar and karaoke machine, are where I can see and hear them. I know at all times what's going on with Eli and the computer, playstation, TV, and radio. There is a lock on the porn files on the computer that he can't access. Hahaha.

Seriously though - the Internet is arguably the last place where freedom of expression and information is available for the masses. Government interference makes me nervous.

Agreed, If you can do it so can other parents.

funny that they want to regulate the Intertron when a parent can do that themselves, but they DON'T want to try and keep my water and air clean through regulation..
Funny thing, those conseratives.
They love families so much.

The funny thing is that you mentioned they should be focusing on keeping us safe from a terrorist attack and not infringing on our freedoms. Well, sorry to break it to everyone, but this terrorism that they speak of does NOT really exist. This "Terror" is just the product of the Bush Administration and the Media flooding Fear into the general publics minds....It's all just another excuse to slowly take away our freedoms and liberties, hence, the search engine fiasco. It's all "for our protection" right? Bullshit. Soon, we will be living life as they do in the books 1984 and Brave New World.

P.S. For the record, there is some porn shit I've came across on the internet that I wouldn't want any kids to see. Now, I'm a total scumbag, and I enjoy the finer things in life. You know, like Sodomy, S&M, gang bangs etc. But seriously, I came across some shit the other day where a guy was pooping in this asian chicks mouth. She was eating it, and totally digging it ranting and raving in some foreign language.

I also accidentely downloaded a Snuff scene entitled "Chasey Lain fucks" from Morpheus a while ago. Upon download, I learned it wasn't Chasey Lain. This chick was blindfolded, tied up and ball-gagged and was getting ass-raped by this dude and fist fucked by this other dude. the whole time shes trying to scream for help. It was pretty horrific. I really wouldn't want kids to see that for the simple fact I wouldn't want to have to explain it to them....The bottom line is though, put blocks on your computers, or better yet, don't let your kids use the computer unless you're with them. I believe its called "parenting".

I am not saying I want kids to look at porn. I am saying that I don't want the government to be parents, I want the parents to be parents.

Unfortunately there are plenty of parents out there that aren't being good parents. There are parents out there that don't block kids from downloading snuff movies and scat porn.

These kids go to school and tell all the other kids about it. None of them learn about it the proper way. The fact is, many parents out there need to be parented themselves.

You may argue that some people shouldn't be allowed to have kids, though in this sense, you're also taking freedom away from them.

So from what I get from what you're saying is...

In your mind, you're a good parent, so your freedoms shouldn't be taken away. Though you should have the ability to decide who else are not good parents, and have their freedoms taken away?

Well anyways, this is an effort to crack down on child porn, and it's been ruled that the amount of information that government can aquire will be limited.

Well, some people shouldn't be allowed to have kids but you are right, even though you have to pass a test to drive a car, get a gun, etc. any methhead idiot can pop out as many babies as they like and we all have to pay for it. Of course that scenario is not fair but yes, it’s America and people seem to like it that way.

What I am saying is that it is not the government’s responsibility to parent children; it’s the parent’s job. As with the children, we live in a free society so if I have to pay my taxes for their kids food stamps they should have the common courtesy to keep their kids away from half porn at midnight as to not trample of my freedom to watch half porn at midnight.

Simply place the computer in a common area of the house, like the living room, and if your kid still looks at porn while you're in the room you have bigger problems than internet porn.
