Sellouts! CAFTA Blows!

We expect this from big business Republicans (and Bill Clinton) but here are the names of the Democrats who support the loss of US jobs, factories with no environmental regulations and slave labor with no rights. Yes, McDonalds and Kentucky Fried Chicken will be able to open restaurants in Central America putting out of business small family owned restaurants but I don't see how that benefits me. The only good that comes from CAFTA is that Fortune 500 companies stock prices have an oppurtunity to edge up a quarter point. It solves no problems in Central America, it only creates more.

Thanks guys! Now the rest of the country can look like Detroit.

The following Democrats are responsible for the loss of your job:

Putting the politics of the matter aside for a moment, I'd like to tell the operator of this blog that they've been named to our LAFTA at CAFTA Top Headline List.

CAFTA sucks all right. It will also put an end to vitamin/herbal supplements. Pharmaceutical companies, working with the World Trade Organization and international law, will be banning them or making them available only by prescription.

Yay! None of those guys are from Georgia. We tend to make the bad lists all too often.

No Layne, conspiracy theories are all that matter in this world. Don't you know that Nibiru is coming back around and we're all going to be slaves to the Annunaki! Danny Halliburtoon is their leader!

No really, Politics are essential knowledge. It is by the means of politics that these (conspiracy theories) agendas are slowly being enacted. Example: human microchips, the loss of rights, etc. Just look at the Patriot Act. Why do you think we're allowing Terrorism to exist? It's so they can slowly take our rights and privacy away. They fill the country with fear and tell us that we're better off and safer this way. When in all actuality, we were safer the year the September 11th attacks occured. Example: The odds were around 1 in 1,000,000 that you would be killed by a terrorist in 2001. That same year, the odds that you would commit suicide were like 1 in 9,000. You were a more fucking danger to yourself than any terrorist organization could ever be. Your odds are probably even better now. People don't need to worry about Terrorists, people need to worry about Rich White Guys. Thats the real fucking problem here. Just like this CAFTA crap. It's probably a bunch of rich white dudes who enacted this....Anyways, Stay Black and Proud forever.

Geez,
I have to agree. CAFTA is another way for them to blow the southern border wide open. Not that it's not already wide open. People can walk across and not get arrested, they get released and disappear, they can cart drugs across.

I think that those companies that move to Central America should be fined for losing jobs here in the states.

Were it up to me, I'd close the border's tight and build a wall.

Not much of a protectionist myself. Afterall, its a small world and we're all brothers and sisters. Borders are disappearing, and trade is something that happens naturally between human beings. Maybe its time Americans stop being their own little club and open their hearts to the rest of the world...

I agree. CAFTA is bad legislation, bad intent, and bad for the US.

"Who will turn the lights off? El Salvador's youth exodus."

CAFTA Casualties: Free trade deals like CAFTA (Central American Free Trade Agreement) have had a devastating impact on El Salvador’s small farmers and have helped push 100,000 Salvadorans per year to immigrate to the United States.Photo by Judy Walgren, FAACA.NET

USULUTÁN, El Salvador—El Salvador is a poor country whose major export is people. From recently living there, I’ve seen firsthand what’s driving people north — and why conventional political solutions aren’t going to deter desperate Salvadorans and others like them from coming to the United States. Largely missing from this year’s presidential campaign is any serious reappraisal of our foreign, military, and trade policies that have forced millions of Latin Americans to uproot themselves and seek opportunities for a better life far from home.

On the presidential campaign trail earlier this year, free trade critics failed to link corporate globalization, trade deregulation and the forced relocation of people throughout the hemisphere. While courting blue-collar workers in farm states and the Rust Belt in the United States, former Democratic senator John Edwards frequently denounced the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) — and its new Central American counterpart, CAFTA — as “trade laws that send American jobs overseas.”
