And you have to feel sorry for the free thinkers in places like rural Virgina and Alabama....Or the Muslims in Tennessee and of course the irony of the violence against that Tennessee mosque, which the Christians there are calling violent.
And then of course there is the irony of all the Christians and how big of a boner they get for the 10 Commandments when they clearly use/worship a cross when the the 2nd Commandment clearly tells them not to use such images, they worship not only God but Jesus and the Holy Ghost (and even Mary) when the 1st Commandment clearly states they are only to worship God and then they go to church on Sundays which goes against what the 4th Commandment instructs them to do when it says they need to worship on the 7th day of the week, not the first. And then of course there is the fact that only 2 of the commandments are something in our common law you can go to jail for breaking and those actually originated not from Moses, but from Hammurabi of Babylon 300 years before the 10 Commandments were even written.
If you think the US is a Christian nation, you are an idiot.
Treaty of Tripoli Article 11:
"As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion; as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquillity, of Musselmen; and as the said States never have entered into any war or act of hostility against any Mehomitan nation, it is declared by the parties that no pretext arising from religious opinions shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries."
Ratified by the senate and 2nd president John Adams in 1797
And why is that relevant?
According to Article 6 of the US Constitution:
Clause 2: "This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land; and the Judges in every State shall be bound thereby, any Thing in the Constitution or Laws of any State to the Contrary notwithstanding. "
Not to mention that 16% of the US is now, Non-Religious...That's a larger group of people than Blacks, Gays, Jews, Muslims and Asians and roughly equal to the amount of Hispanics who live in this country.
