Tea Party Pork

Anti-earmark Tea Party Caucus takes $1 billion in earmarks

Wait, this surprises you?? How many times to I have to tell you that you are being lied to???

Just like Newt Gingrich going after Clinton for a blow job while he was cheating on his wife, just like Mark Foley being
Chairman of the House Caucus on Missing and Exploited Children, while sending sexually charged messages to male, teenage congressional pages, just like Larry Craig voting to remove "sexual orientation" from federal hate crimes laws, while trying to blow a dude in the Men's bathroom of an airport, just like Ted Haggard lobbying against gay rights and teaching that homosexuality was an abomination, REPUBLICANS ARE HYPOCRITES!

We all know Michelle Bachmann is herself a welfare queen pocketing a quarter million dollars in farm subsidies and that Sarah Palin, the one who preaches on the evils of taxes and big government spending being from the state which has no state income tax and therefore is the largest recipient of federal subsidies in the Union where 1/3 of all jobs are created by the federal government but this is too much, too soon. The Tea Party is what, 2 years old?? And already they turn out to be bullshit?? Not that I didn't already know they were full of shit and that their main, founding principles were completely wrong (no, the Revolution wasn't fought over taxes, it was fought over taxation without representation) but it's nice that someone else is finally acknowledging it.

In case you don't want to read the article, here is a list of Teabaggers and their earmark requests for 2010:

Good post. Time to zero out ALL earmarks, completely.

And to stop with the misleading claim that it is a small part of the debt problem. The entire debt problem is made of small parts.

Also, about the sidebar:

"Science flies you to the moon, religion flies you into buildings."

Religion (the theocratic type) also marches you to freedom. As per Dr. Martin Luther King. The Atheist faith has a distinct lack of faithful of this type, and instead has faithful of the type of Stalin and Pol Pot, who annihilate large proportions of the population.

Neither Stalin or Pol Pot wiped these people out because they were atheists or in the name of Atheism nor did it have anything to do with nor was it justified by their "religion" or god...Unlike Jim Jones, David Koresh, what happened to the Jews in Europe last century because of their religion, the Spanish Inquisition, The Crusades, 9/11, the genocide of Muslims in Kosovo, the Genocide of Muslims and Catholics by Serbian Orthodox Christians in Bosnia, Witch Hunts, Genocide of Turkish Armenians, Northern Ireland, Israelis and Palestinian conflicts, Pope Alexander VI, and even the genocide of natives in North and South America and slavery which was all justified with religion.

And lets not forget Jericho and all the other genocides condoned by god in the Bible:

"When the Lord your God brings you into the land you are entering to possess and drives out before you may nations...then you must destroy them totally. Make no treaty with them and show them no mercy." Deuteronomy 7:1-2,

"do not leave alive anything that breaths. Completely destroy them...as the Lord your God has commanded you..." Deuteronomy 20:16

Religious non-conformity was part-and-and-parcel of the genocide ordered by Stalin and the others.... which significantly dwarfs all the other instances you mention.

This was both in general, and in many specific instances. In most of these oppressive societies, the theistic people are the freethinkers who must be eliminated because they challenge the doctrine of the atheist overlords.

Not sure of the point of your last section. You are quoting the words of a God whom your religion demands does not exist. So why quote?

And still waiting for you to name the Atheist Dr. King, or even Gandhi.

Again, Stalin didn't kill people to convert them to atheism, he didn't do it in the name of atheism or anything of the sort...Unlike all the examples I gave where people were killing for and in the name of YOUR god. And no, the deaths under Stalin don't dwarf the genocides and mass murders that were comitted against certain religions by others or in the name of your one true god.

What atheist overlords?? ANd did you really call Christians and Muslims "free thinkers"?? Again, what color is the sky on the world you live in? It was religion who has surpressed most of the free thinkers of their days and burned them at the stake. I could write a book with all the examples...All you have is Stalin.

The atheist Gandhi?? How about the Dalai Lamma?Confucius! And Bill and Melinda Gates foundation, UNICEF, SPCA, Amnesty International, Doctors without Borders,United Way, Robert Wilson, Toys for Tots, Planned Parenthood, Margaret Sanger,John Lennon, Ayaan Hirshi Ali, William L Moore,Henry Stephens Salt, etc.

Clearly not all of these did as much as Gandhi or King unless you look at the amount of money Bill Gates and Warrne Buffet on their secular charities which is more than any other organizations ever.

And I can assure you that I can find 100s if not 1000s of religious organizations that are spreading hate and intolerance when you could probably only find one or two atheist organizations akin to the KKK, Westboro Baptist Church, Al-Qaeda, Kach, Ulster Unionist party, etc.

Yes, I really did call Muslims and Christians free thinkers, because they arrive at conclusions independent of the dogma you prefer.

"How about the Dalai Lamma?"

Did you actually do any thinking before you submitted this?

You got so many things wrong. But one of the biggest mistakes was to include the most famous holy man of the Buddhist faith, and one who has received notable persecution from those of the Atheist faith, as some sort of great Atheist humanitarian.

That's real rich. What were you thinking... or drinking?

Toad734 said...

No, they didn't arrive at conclusions independent of dogma, they were brainwashed these conclusions dependent of the dogma you prefer. It takes a free thinker to be a Christian at one point and then think it through and arrive at the conclusion its all bullshit and that everything that your parents told you when you were 2, may not be true...God, Santa, Easter Bunny included.

And which god does the Dali Lamma pray to??

Atheism is not a faith, it is the absence of faith. It's like saying there is a cult of people who don't believe in Santa Clause and since they don't believe in Santa they are of a specific faith. Do you even know the etymology of the word atheist??

"Brainwashed" meaning having a religion different from your own. Got it. It's a pretty bad definition of the word you are working from, but I understand completely.

"It takes a free thinker to be a Christian at one point and then think it through and arrive at the conclusion its all bullshit.."

And then there are the free thinkers who are atheists, but think it all through and become Christians. Exercising reason and sharp rationality, but arriving at a religious conclusion different from your own.

Buddhism is a religion with a lot of strong dogma, expecially involving souls.

"Atheism is not a faith, it is the absence of faith."

This is true for some atheists: those of the agnostic stripe. But many atheists do have a strong faith.

"It's like saying there is a cult of people who don't believe in Santa Clause..."

No, it's not. You are changing the subject.

If you believe that there is no God, you are expressing your faith.

As for the etymology of the word, the etymology of the word "atheism" derives from the Greek word "atheos" meaning "godless".

It does not mean faithless. Of course, many atheists have a strong religious faith.
